Item Details

Description

Oil painting of young girl in a blue dress standing next to a side chair in the very traditional style of American FOLK ART with attributes to William Matthew Prior, although signed near lower left as shown in red oil "W. Matthew NY 1861". Actual canvas size is 13.5" x 11.5" and contained in a red painted stylized Americana style frame. Some light crazing throughout as shown and possibly some old cleaning or shellac. A very nice Example of 19th century American folk art. See photos. Cleveland Ohio Estate collection.
