Eugenio Zampighi (Italian 1859-1944) "Farmhouse" Oil on Canvas. The frame measures approx 23.6" x 18.2". Picturesque interior with chicks, in the center of the composition a seated peasant girl plucking a flower as an oracle of love. Very atmospheric, cheerful, narrative genre scene with characterful, lively portrayals of characters. In terms of motif and style, a work that is representative of Zampighi, who was one of the most important Italian genre painters of his time. Zampighi won a three-year scholarship in 1879 as one of the best students at the Modena Art Academy, which he spent first in Rome and later in Florence, where he was permanently resident from 1884. His main subject were realistically painted, sensitively observed scenes from rural, idyllic folk life, which he observed in a very subtle, sympathetic manner. Oil / canvas. Signed
